The way you line up to your golf shots has a huge influence on your golf swing and how well you hit the golf ball. Sadly most amateur golfers take alignment for granted and suffer the consequences. But to make sure that doesn’t happen to you I want to give you a quick and easy way to check your feet alignment the next time you’re hitting golf balls. So here’s what you need to do…
Setup to hit a golf ball as normal but just before you’re going to start swinging grab a golf ball and place it behind one of your heels so it’s touching it. Then grab another ball and place it behind the other heel so it’s just touching it. Once this is in place then move your feet away and walk behind your ball so you can look down the line of your shot to see how good your feet alignment was in your setup position.
By doing this you’ll get very quick and accurate feedback on how good or bad your feet alignment was.
With your feet alignment you want your feet to be parallel to the starting line of your golf shot. This will mean that your feet appear to be aligned slightly to the left of your final target.
If after doing this little exercise you find that your feet are not aligned correctly then adjust the golf balls so if you place your heels just touching them you’ll be aligned correctly. After doing this go back to your setup position and make sure your heels are just touching the balls.
If you were badly misaligned your new feet alignment position will feel very strange. Don’t worry about that however. It’s just a new habit that you have to keep getting used to and with regular practice you will start to feel for yourself what the proper feet alignment is and your golf swing will improve along with your ball striking.
